About Tactics notes
Tactics notes is a special operations tactics and fieldcraft knowledge base. It digests open US doctrine (Army, Joint, ARSOF), detachment-level planning manuals, and original tradecraft into a graph of linked reference notes.
It sits beside Intelligence notes inside the VMBRARIVM monorepo:
- Intelligence notes maps actors, crises, systems, and strategic concepts.
- Tactics notes documents how forces plan, reconnoiter, target, influence, protect, and sustain at the detachment and small-unit echelon.
Method
- Source - public doctrine stubs and full texts in the private doctrine archive; original tradecraft where no open pub exists.
- Digest - one concept per note; cite the pub and edition; keep mechanics usable at the echelon the note claims.
- Structure - twelve top-level sections with nested categories (intelligence-garden pattern).
- Density - concept notes carry definition, doctrinal framework, mechanics, application, cases when known, related concepts, and failure modes.
- Publish - this tree ships on the public Quartz garden next to the intelligence wiki.
What is out of scope
- Classified or CAC-only material
- Client, principal, or engagement identifiers
- Wholesale republication of full manuals
- Platform content series (posts, threads, carousels) - those distill from this garden elsewhere
Relationship to the doctrine archive
Full converted manuals live outside this repo at the private AODA doctrine shelf (00-orientation through 10-systems). Doctrine Sources maps shelves to sections. Notes cite designators; they do not mirror .full.md files.
Navigation
